Songwriters @ The Rocks (“the contest”) is open to all aged 16 or over (“the contestants)

The contest is run by Place Management NSW (PMNSW)

By entering the Contest, the Contestant accepts these Terms and Conditions together with any specific instructions and terms for the Contest which may be mentioned on-air, in any electronic messages, or on the website, or communicated to Contestants in any other way. Such contest information shall prevail in the event of there being any inconsistency between these Terms and Conditions and any contest information.

We may cancel or amend the Contest, Contest Information, or these Terms and Conditions without prior notice. Any changes will be posted either within the Contest Information or these Terms and Conditions.

The judge's decision in all matters to do with the contest will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.

It is agreed that any entry submitted and any competition performance is provided by entrants / artists is an independent service provided and shall not be deemed or construed as creating any partnership, joint venture, employment relationship, agency or other relationship between Place Management NSW and the entrant / Artist.
Contestants

Entry is only open to permanent residents of NSW.

Only entries from Soloists and Duo’s will be accepted. Where a duo is submitting an entry, it is a requirement that at least one member of the duo is the composer of the song.

The Contestant must not be currently signed by any record label and/or be professionally employed as a “songwriter”.

Contestants must be a minimum of 16 years of age.

Contestants must be available and willing to travel to Sydney for the period of Friday 18th - Sunday 20th June 2021. Contestants will be required to cover the costs of travelling to/from Sydney.

Contestants will be required to be able to perform two sets of 30 minute duration as part of the Showcase events.
Closing Date

All entries must be submitted by 10am on Monday 7th June 2021.
Eligibility Criteria

All entries must submit two videos with a minimum of one being an original track – you must personally perform the songs on the submitted entries.

Each submitted video must not exceed 3 minutes 30 seconds – entries with videos that are longer than 3 minutes and 30 seconds will be disqualified.

Entries must be the exclusive original work of the Contestant and must not infringe any copyrights or any other rights of third parties.

Entries must have both lyrics and music. Purely instrumental works are not eligible.

Where a song has been composed in a language other than English, a full written translation of the song in English must be provided.

Each Contestant must only submit one entry. Duplicate entries by the same Contestant are not allowed – in the instance, an Contestant submits more than one entry, all entries will be disqualified.
Entry Mechanisms

All entries must be submitted via the online form located on the Songwriters @ The Rocks website. Entries received by any other means will not be accepted.

As part of their entry, Contestants must provide a YouTube link to the videos of their performances – please ensure that your link is public to ensure our ability to view your performance. Any links that are private will be disqualified.

Each Contestant must only submit one entry. Duplicate entries by the same Contestant are not allowed – in the instance, an Contestant submits more than one entry, all entries will be disqualified.
Confirmation of Entry Receipt

A confirmation of entry receipt will be sent automatically to the email address provided on the entry form upon submission of your entry. If you have not received confirmation for your entry within 12 hours of submission, please email: hello@songwritersattherocks.com.au
Judging
-
All entries will be subject to a preliminary judging round before the finalists are selected and presented to the final judging panel. The Judges’ decision at both the preliminary and final round is final with no exceptions, and no correspondence will be entered into.

Production values of the song recording will not be judged. The judging will be for the songwriting, not the recording.
Notification of Results

Semi-finalists will be notified by phone call and/or email on completion of the judging process.

Semi-finalists will be posted on The Rocks Songwriters Festival website within five (5) working days of the completion of the judging process.

Finalists will be notified by phone call by 7pm on Saturday 19th June 2021.
Prizes
-
Each semi - finalist will receive a certificate.

Each finalist will receive a certificate.

The winner and the runner up will receive a share of the prize pool (details of the prize pool to be announced the week of the 30th May 2021).
Judging
-
The decisions of the judges will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.
Promotional Use
-
By entering the competition, Contestants agree to entry materials being used by Place Management NSW and DNSW for non-sale promotional purposes.

By accepting to be a semi-finalist/finalist, the Contestant agrees to being filmed and recorded as part of their semi-final and final performances and agree to this footage being utilised for promotional purposes by Place Management NSW and DNSW.

The rights and ownerships of the songs will remain with the composer.
